I’ve mentioned my mom (the Ma) before in this book but I would be remiss to not mention her friends and family in the church. These women hold the fabric of their parish and parishes around the world together through prayer. I believe groups like the Legion of Mary are keeping our world intact. 

This prayer was selected by a member of The Legion of Mary in the Parish of the Holy Spirit Church in Eden New York. A lovely parish struggling to remain open in a time of turmoil in our church.  When you say this prayer, please think of them.

This startlingly impressive prayer with the Holy Spirit was written by Cardinal Henry Edward Manning, the second Archbishop of Westminster England.

One of my favorite quotes from Cardinal Manning is:

“. . . God knows I would rather stand in the lowest place within the Truth, than in the highest without it. Nay, outside the Truth, the higher the worse. It is only so much more opposition to Truth, so much more propagation of falsehood.”

TAKE ME AS YOUR DISCIPLE

O Holy Spirit of God, take me as your disciple. Guide me, Illuminate me, Sanctify me. 

Bind my hands, that they may do no evil. Cover my eyes, that they may see it no more. Sanctify my heart, that evil may not dwell within me. You are my God. 

You are my guide. Whatsoever you forbid me, I will renounce. And whatsoever you command me, in your strength I will do. Lead me then unto the fullness of your truth.
